Burlington was recently named one of Canada’s best places to live in MoneySense magazine’s list of Top 35 Best Paces to live in Canada. That’s hardly surprising. Its low crime rate, high job prospects and high household and discretionary income makes Burlington an ideal place to live.

Along with Davies Smith, LJM Developments is one of the company’s that is making a significant contribution to the development and future of Burlington. LJM Developments is a real-estate development and asset management company and they are also one of our construction partners at Ironstone Condos.

We recently spoke to LJM about their work at Ironstone and their plans for the neighbourhood and community of Burlington.

How did you become involved in the Ironstone project?

Mr. Liaquat Mian who leads LJM Developments, came across the land on Ironstone Drive in 2005 while driving on Appleby Line. He was really impressed with Burlington’s demographics and healthy economy and he thought the area would be a great investment for a residential project. LJM subsequently acquired the land and soon after, we approached Davies Smith for a potential joint venture in building the tallest building in Burlington.

What is it about the Ironstone project in particular that interested you?

The concept of a green project with contemporary architecture was of great interest to us. In addition, the living concept, height, and location of Ironstone gives both LJM and Davies Smith the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the real-estate community and neighborhood of Burlington.

What other projects are you working on in Burlington?

We are building Phase II of a retail plaza across the street from Ironstone called Uptown Center. Phase I was a great success and we brought new restaurants, a pharmacy, and a massage facility to the neighborhood.

We are excited to announce that the Phase II tenants will include: Menchie’s Yogurt, Starbucks Coffee, and an upscale Italian restaurant.

The retailers that you have at Uptown Center will certainly attract a lot of visitors to Uptown Burlington.

For us, Uptown Center is a place where we want visitors to feel warm, welcome, and satisfied with a growing choice of places to eat, drink, and hang out.

Visitors are always welcome to Uptown Center, and we’re particularly excited about welcoming Ironstone residents to the community.
